Astronomers have named asteroids and other bodies after entities from other mythologies besides the greek and roman legends. For example, Sedna is named for an inuit goddess, Varuna for a Hindu God, and Quaoar is a god of the Tongva people, a Native American group. These are all Trans-Neptunian objects.
