Deciduous Forests
In Deciduous Forests, kids will investigate this diverse biome and see how environmental threats affect the earth's deciduous forests. They will compare the various ecosystems and the variety of plants and animals that have adapted to the seasonal changes that are characteristic of life there. Many of the threats to this biome come from humans, including acid rain and deforestation. Others are natural threats, such as disease and invasive species. Kids will learn, however, that in the complicated web of life in the forest, even natural threats can be made worse by human activity.

Children's Literature Review—"This volume from the “Endangered Biomes” series seeks to accomplish two goals with one book. Readers are educated on the Earth’s biomes and the growing environmental concerns facing all corners of the earth. The author manages to pack a ton of information into just twenty-seven pages. With a layout that resembles a scrapbook, information is presented in small, visually appealing doses. First presenting a definition of biomes and the deciduous forest biome in particular, the author then moves on to discuss the landscape and climate of the forest, plant and animal adaptations to the biome and current environmental threats. . .They layout of the book is particularly appealing. Information is presented in short paragraphs, often headed by a question and surrounded by colorful photographs. This is an excellent introduction to the deciduous forest biome for elementary readers and useful for report writing, but will also appeal to non-fiction readers who are interested in the subject as well."
